Today, the Orchard Park Fire Company was in many places in the community that you may have seen!
First, Orchard Park Fire Company Engine 3 made an appearance at the Countryside Lane block party where there were approximately 300 residents. Residents were shown their "first-due" engine that would respond to incidents in their neighborhood, and met their volunteer firefighters that would also respond.
The Orchard Park Fire District Bike Team as well as District ATV 4, Orchard Park EMS Medic 2 and Orchard Park Ambulance 821 were on hand at the Brian Moorman Punt Foundation 8k run/ 1 mile walk. The Bike Team was active, following the runners throughout the course, while the ATV patrolled the event. Crews were even able to meet Geoffrey the Giraffe, Billy Buffalo and Sabretooth!
And lastly, the Orchard Park Fire Company sent Engine 1 and Truck 6 to the Erie County Emergency Services Firefighter Showcase at Chestnut Ridge Park. Here, crews demonstrated fire attack in a building and a vehicle, patient rescue using the ladder truck, and rappelled off the 5-story training tower. Onlookers were able to see the capabilities and skill sets our firefighters possess, and how the use of the Erie County Emergency Services training facilities help train us for many scenarios.
